PV Gangadharan, eminent Industrialist and one of the most prolific producers in Malayalam cinema, was born in Calicut, as the son of late Smt. Madhavi Sami & Sri. P V Sami, founder of KTC group of industries and a leading industrialist and veteran freedom fighter. Late  Sri. P.V. Sami, father of PVG was an active worker of Indian National Congress who had attended almost all the A.I.C.C. meetings and has been an inspiration for all his endeavours.

Sri. PV Gangadharan is the Director of KTC Group of Companies and Mathrubhumi, a leading Malayalam Newspaper in Kerala. Renowned industrialist, Sri. P.V. Chandran, Chairman of KTC Group of Companies and Managing Editor of Mathrubhumi Publications is his brother.

A strong proponent of Indian National Congress and its principles, PV Gangadharan ventured into the political arena as an activist of Kerala Students Union (KSU), the student wing of the party. He started his political career in 1961 and was the School leader of Ganapath Boys High School, Calicut. Since then, he participated in several agitations organized by them and was fully involved in almost all its activities which inspired to become an effective member of Indian National Congress.

When China attacked India in October 1962, a massive march was lead mobilizing thousands of students in erstwhile Malabar to protest against the war.

Sri. PV Gangadharan has held several leading and crucial positions in the social, cultural, political and educational fields and had made significant contributions for the overall growth and development in these spheres. He was the President of Azhchavattam Unit Congress Committee, Treasurer of Mankavu Mandalam Committee, Chairman of Indira Centre for Political studies, Patron Nehru Vichar Vedi, Chairman, Dr. K.G. Adiyodi Cultural Centre, President, Congress (I) Relief committee and President, Mankavu Mandalam Relief Committee. He was the Chairman of U.D.F. Finance committee for the Kozhikode Parliament Constituency elections since 1977.

As the President of Relief committee, extended financial assistance to thousands of people and was fully involved in the relief activities. He was also the President of Malabar Chamber of Commerce in 1991-92 and 1996-98. During these years, he worked for the development of Calicut Airport and for the expansion of runway. He was elected unanimously as the President of Malabar Chamber of Commerce for the third time in 2008-2010.


Sri. PV Gangadharan now holds the post of Chairman, Malabar Airport Development Action Committee and Train Action Committee. He has put in a lot of effort for the completion and commissioning of Konkan Railway project and now striving hard for the development of Beypore Port.


Sri. PV Gangadharan is the Director of PVS Hospitals at Ernakulam and Calicut, and the Comtrust Eye Hospital. A scheme has been introduced at these centres by which free treatment is being given for the poor and needy and lot of patients are being benefitted by this.

He was the President of Rotary Club of Calicut East for the tenure 1999-2000 and was selected as the best President of the year among 116 clubs spread in Tamilnadu and Kerala,for the meritorious community service projects undertaken which were most beneficial to the public.

PVG holds the post of Executive Member, Sree Narayana Trust, Trustee, P.V.S. College for Women, P.V.S. High School., Eranhikal , Director Sreekanteswara Kshethrayogam, Director Sree Narayana Education Society, PVS Nursing School, Calicut and Ernakulam and President, Pantheerankavu High School. In all the above Educational institutions free education is being given to poor and deserving students.

He is also the Director in Charge, Mathrubhumi Study Circle which is meant for the development of leadership qualities in the young generation all over Kerala giving opportunities for them to expose their talents in various fields.

PVG has produced 22 aesthetic films under the banner Grihalakshmi Productions of which 4 films bagged National awards. Most of these, apart from being successful in box office has also won International recognitions for spreading socially relevant theme and message through the medium of cinema. He was the Vice President of Federation of International Film Producers Association based at Paris and the First Indian to hold this post for three consecutive terms. Now, he is the first Vice President of this organization. PVG was the former Chairman of Kerala State Film Development Corporation, Trivandrum and had become the President of Kerala Film chamber of Commerce for 10 terms.

Despite being extremely busy managing a big business group, film production and other activities, PVG is very much a family man and is ably supported in all his ventures by his wife, Mrs. P.V. Sherien, daughter of former Advocate General Sri. Ratna Singh.  Mrs. Shenuga Jaythilak, Mrs. Shegna Vigil and Mrs. Sherga Sandeep are his three daughters.
